The aim of the Forum is to improve the lives of persons with disabilities residing in County Galway by driving real change on those issues of common interest and concern which have arisen in discussion and debate at our regularly attended meetings. The Forum seeks to plan and coordinate actions that actively addresses these same issues of interest and concern. S3 Solutions is an independent consultancy company who have been commissioned by the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) to carry out a piece of research to explore any barriers to involvement in Public Participation Networks (PPN).
There will be an initial initial exploratory survey, which you can access at the link below: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PPNQuestionnaire
The survey will take you approximately 20 minutes to complete and the final report will be shared with stakeholders. PPN members are encouraged to complete the survey, to help gather as much information and feedback as possible to inform the consultation phase of the research. The survey will be live until 19th September.

DAF Growing Social Enterprise Capital Fund

The fund will provide capital supports to assist enterprises to achieve their social, environmental and economic objectives, and to improve their sustainability and impact. This fund will support a wide regional spread of organisations, including those embedded in rural communities. The call will be divided into two Strands: Strand A: Small grants of between €1,500 – 15,000 Strand B: Larger grants from €15,001 to €100,000

Geological Survey Ireland Geoheritage Programme is supporting the development and sustainability of Ireland’s geoheritage through community-driven geoscience outreach initiatives, including education, and geotourism to promote community engagement and development of geoheritage awareness.
Geological Survey Ireland invites applications by 12:00 hrs (noon) 30 September 2024 for the Geoheritage Grant aid for 2024/25 up to a maximum of €10,000.
This grant aid is available to support small community-driven geoheritage initiatives that will assist:
1) the delivery of public outreach, educational and geotourism activities to promote the geoheritage of an area; or
2) the delivery of required educational and geotourism activities to help aspiring projects to develop as de facto geoparks; or
3) the delivery of required educational and geotourism activities, for example helping UNESCO Global Geoparks maintain their UNESCO Global Network status.

The interactive artwork ‘Augmented Body, Altered Mind’, created by artist Alan James Burns, celebrates the neurodivergent mind and highlights the importance of inclusive design and creative thinking when addressing climate action.
On September 27, climate action policymakers, activists, and individuals with lived experience of disability will come together for an informal discussion and workshop. The goal is to explore how to make climate action more just, with attendees learning practical skills that can be used in creating greater access and equality in climate action with particular focus on policy.
This event will inform Alan's latest collaborative project ‘Divergently Together’, a partnership with DCU, which uses STEM technologies to empower disabled and neurodivergent communities in climate action.
