Individuals with disabilities, carers, family members of persons with disabilities and those providing services for persons with disabilities constitute the Galway Disability Forum. The aim of the Forum is to improve the lives of persons with disabilities residing in County Galway by driving real change on those issues of common interest and concern which have arisen in discussion and debate at our regularly attended meetings. The Forum seeks to plan and coordinate actions that actively addresses these same issues of interest and concern.

S3 Solutions is an independent consultancy company who have been commissioned by the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) to carry out a piece of research to explore any barriers to involvement in Public Participation Networks (PPN).
There will be an initial initial exploratory survey, which you can access at the link below: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PPNQuestionnaire.
The survey will take you approximately 20 minutes to complete and the final report will be shared with stakeholders. PPN members are encouraged to complete the survey, to help gather as much information and feedback as possible to inform the consultation phase of the research.
The survey will be live until 19th September.

A public space already exists on the Ballygaddy Road in Tuam, however it is currently predominantly a grassed area. The proposed park enhancement will involve:
• Proposed pathways constructed from exposed aggregate concrete,
• Creating loop walks around the park, and intermittent informal play features, and seating/rest locations.
• Seating areas for community engagement,
• Dynamic play areas,
• Biodiversity planting with native species and wildflower spaces.
We invite you the public to have your say to help make the best possible Ballygaddy Park plan for Tuam town.

European Commission targeted consultation on procedure for access to justice in environmental matters in relation to State aid decisions.

The European Commission has launched a targeted consultation to seek feedback from the business community and public authorities on a proposed new procedure aimed to give public access to judicial procedures to challenge specific decisions on State aid measures that allegedly contravene EU environmental law.

Public consultation on health and social care services and supports for older people.

Deadline is on Thursday 24 October 2024 at 5.00 pm.

On behalf of the Commission on Care for Older People, the Department of Health has launched a public consultation on health and social care services and supports for older people.
The public consultation survey is now available online, along with information about how to respond, at gov.ie/ConsultationOlderPeople. The survey is open to all and will provide the Commission with insight into people’s views of the strengths of current service provision as well as of areas for enhancement.
Please see attached ePoster (in English and Irish) for your information and to print, display, and disseminate to individuals and/or relevant stakeholder- organisations as appropriate.
The public consultation will remain open until 5.00pm on Thursday 24 October 2024.

DAF Growing Social Enterprise Capital Fund
|
An Application Clinic will take place on Thursday, 12th September from 11am – 1pm.
Deadline to submit applications on Friday 20th September 2024 at 5pm.
|
The fund will provide capital supports to assist enterprises to achieve their social, environmental and economic objectives, and to improve their sustainability and impact.
This fund will support a wide regional spread of organisations, including those embedded in rural communities.
The call will be divided into two Strands:
Strand A: Small grants of between €1,500 – 15,000
Strand B: Larger grants from €15,001 to €100,000

Geological Survey Ireland Geoheritage Programme is supporting the development and sustainability of Ireland’s geoheritage through community-driven geoscience outreach initiatives, including education, and geotourism to promote community engagement and development of geoheritage awareness.
Geological Survey Ireland invites applications by 12:00 hrs (noon) 30 September 2024 for the Geoheritage Grant aid for 2024/25 up to a maximum of €10,000.
This grant aid is available to support small community-driven geoheritage initiatives that will assist:
1) the delivery of public outreach, educational and geotourism activities to promote the geoheritage of an area; or
2) the delivery of required educational and geotourism activities to help aspiring projects to develop as de facto geoparks; or
3) the delivery of required educational and geotourism activities, for example helping UNESCO Global Geoparks maintain their UNESCO Global Network status.

www.springboardcourses.ie providing 11,000 free or heavily subsidised college courses for unemployed, self-employed or returners to work.
Courses are free for the unemployed, previously self-employed and returners to the workforce.

The two day event that will bring together environmental charities, professionals, local community groups, and members of the public. The focus of the event will be to provide a series of events that are educational and enjoyable and empowering.

The Western Development Commission is inviting you to join us for an insightful webinar on the collection, treatment, and reuse of used fishing gear, presented by the CIRCNETS project.
The CIRCNETS project is a 3 year project funded by the Interreg Northern Periphery and Artic Programme. The aim is to examine solutions for the collection, treatment and recycling of End-of-Life fishing gear to ensure that they do not end up polluting our seas.

We will highlight some practices from around the Northern Periphery and Artic region. Augmented Body, Altered Mind

The interactive artwork ‘Augmented Body, Altered Mind’, created by artist Alan James Burns, celebrates the neurodivergent mind and highlights the importance of inclusive design and creative thinking when addressing climate action.
On September 27, climate action policymakers, activists, and individuals with lived experience of disability will come together for an informal discussion and workshop. The goal is to explore how to make climate action more just, with attendees learning practical skills that can be used in creating greater access and equality in climate action with particular focus on policy.
This event will inform Alan's latest collaborative project ‘Divergently Together’, a partnership with DCU, which uses STEM technologies to empower disabled and neurodivergent communities in climate action.

Age Friendly Ireland is the organisation responsible for the national Age Friendly Programme, affiliated to the World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities.

Age Friendly Galway County is delivered by Galway County Council and works to improve the services and facilities that our older people have identified as being important to them, and the wider community, as they live healthy and active lives.

The Ombudsman examines complaints from members of the public who believe they have been unfairly treated by certain public service providers. The organisation also investigates complaints about failures by public bodies to provide accessible buildings, services and information, as required under Part 3 of the Disability Act 2005.
The Ombudsman provides a free public service that is open and accountable. We examine complaints in a fair, independent, and impartial way.
