Cathaoirleach’s Awards 2025

Volunteers and Community Groups from across County Galway have been honoured at the annual Cathaoirleach’s Awards that took place Friday 16th May in Athenry.The ceremony, hosted by Cathaoirleach of Galway County Council, Councillor Martina Kinane, celebrated the outstanding contribution of individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to improve life in their communities and was organised by Galway County Council in partnership with the Galway County Public Participation Network (PPN).
Winners across a wide range of categories were recognised for their impact in areas such as arts, environment, community development, inclusion, and heritage; and for the first time ever, the Awards Ceremony has been live-streamed on the Galway County Council Facebook. Take a look at:

Galway Harbour Company and The Land Development Agency - Public Consultation

Tuesday 3rd June 1pm – 7.30pm        Wednesday 4th June 11am –4pm 
Galway Harbour Project LDA Offices, The Portershed, 15 Market St, Galway H91 TCX3
Galway Harbour Company (GHC) GHC and The Land Development Agency (LDA) are pleased to launch a joint consultation and stakeholder engagement process for the planned redevelopment of Galway Inner Harbour. This will include the proposed delivery of 350 affordable and social homes at Amharc Atalia (Atalia View), the working title for a planned new LDA housing development, which will be Phase 1 of the wider masterplan. Public Consultation - Policing Priorities For An Garda Síochána 

Closing date: Sunday 8th June 2025
The Policing and Community Safety Authority
(PCSA) is the new oversight body for An Garda Síochána. The PCSA sets the Policing Priorities and these establish what we want the Gardaí to give the most attention and resources to, in order to deliver an effective policing service for you and to make people feel safe in their communities. The PCSA is currently reaching out to people and communities across Ireland to hear their views on what the Policing Priorities should be for An Garda Síochána for 2026-2028.

Survey - Romanian Community of Ireland

Closing date: Sunday 22nd June 2025
This survey has been put together by the Romanian Community of Ireland (RCI) a not-for-profit organisation which, for more than 27 years, supports the integration, cohesion and the promotion of Romanian identity of the diaspora living in the Republic or Ireland. The number of Romanians in Ireland has grown significantly over the last decade. In order for RCI to best respond to the current reality, it is important to fully understand the interests, challenges and real needs that the Romanian community is currently experiencing. The data and feedback captured through the survey will shape the RCI’s strategic direction for the next five years, the projects it undertakes and the supports that will be offered.

Irish Ocean Literacy Network Activism Survey

The Irish Ocean Literacy Network (IOLN) Regional Action and Activism Working Group is inviting environmental groups to participate in a short survey aimed at understanding the types of ocean activism/activities across Ireland and identifying the common themes and motivations among groups. The goal is to use this information to support coastal communities in strengthening their knowledge, awareness and engagement with the ocean. Thoor Ballylee Artist in Residence 2025

2025 Galway Wind Park - Local Community Fund 

Closing date: Friday 13th of June 2025

Located in Connemara's Cloosh Valley, Galway Wind Park is jointly owned by SSE Renewables and Greencoat Renewables. The wind park operates an overall €400,000-plus Community Fund paid annually in contributions to local groups and individuals via its Local Fund, Major Projects Fund, and Scholarship Fund. The local fund supports projects focused on energy efficiency, safety, environmental sustainability, social sustainability, recreation and tourism, and education and skills development. SEAI has recently launched a pilot grant scheme for the energy upgrading of traditional houses.
The pilot will provide tailored solutions for your traditional home and the upgrade options include all the technologies available to modern homes; roof insulation, wall insulation, floor insulation, windows & doors, ventilation, renewable heating (heat pumps), solar thermal, solar PV. Free Youth Summer Art Camp

Living Well Programme - Tuam

Tuam begins on Monday 15th June 2025 for 6 Mondays from 10.30am to 1.00pm.
The Living Well Programme is a chronic disease self-management programme, originally developed at Standford University. The programme is suitable for anyone aged over 18 who is living with any kind of long-term health condition e.g. high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, depression, chronic pain, etc.
As participants must have the capacity to self-manage, the programme is not suitable for people with severe cognitive impairment or intellectual disability.

Farm Walks 2025
Sustainable Cattle Grazing in the Uplands for Nature and Wildfire Prevention

Saturday 5th July 2025, 11am - 1:30pm Loughatorick South, Moyglass, Loughrea - H62 YX44
Farm Walk with Nia O’Malley, Beef Farmer, Co. Galway BOOK HERE
This will be a 2.5 hour (approx.) visit to the farm and will include a walk around with the farmer, a look at some of the habitats/species, as well as the livestock and/or crops. Feel free to engage with the farmer about how they manage the land in support of nature. These walks are for farmers and people with an interest in farming for nature. They are meant to be an interactive knowledge exchange. These walks are non-profit but a booking fee is necessary to minimise no-shows. It costs €12 to register and all funds are circulated back into the farming community. Dogs are not welcome. You will be turned away if you arrive with one.
