Volunteers and Community Groups from across County Galway have been honoured at the annual Cathaoirleach’s Awards that took place Friday 16th May in Athenry.The ceremony, hosted by Cathaoirleach of Galway County Council, Councillor Martina Kinane, celebrated the outstanding contribution of individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to improve life in their communities and was organised by Galway County Council in partnership with the Galway County Public Participation Network (PPN). Winners across a wide range of categories were recognised for their impact in areas such as arts, environment, community development, inclusion, and heritage; and for the first time ever, the Awards Ceremony has been live-streamed on the Galway County Council Facebook. Tuam begins on Monday 15th June 2025 for 6 Mondays from 10.30am to 1.00pm. The Living Well Programme is a chronic disease self-management programme, originally developed at Standford University. The programme is suitable for anyone aged over 18 who is living with any kind of long-term health condition e.g. high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, depression, chronic pain, etc. As participants must have the capacity to self-manage, the programme is not suitable for people with severe cognitive impairment or intellectual disability. Galway BOOK HERE This will be a 2.5 hour (approx.) visit to the farm and will include a walk around with the farmer, a look at some of the habitats/species, as well as the livestock and/or crops. Feel free to engage with the farmer about how they manage the land in support of nature. These walks are for farmers and people with an interest in farming for nature. They are meant to be an interactive knowledge exchange. These walks are non-profit but a booking fee is necessary to minimise no-shows. It costs €12 to register and all funds are circulated back into the farming community. Dogs are not welcome. You will be turned away if you arrive with one.
