Assistive Technology User
|
The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe is conducting an independent assessment of access to assistive technology in Ireland, by request from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration of Youth. As part of this evaluation, it is very important to us that we hear directly from assistive technology users or their representatives.
Assistive Technology is defined by WHO as assistive products and their related systems and services. Assistive products help maintain or improve an individual's functioning related to cognition, communication, hearing, mobility, self-care and vision, enabling health, well-being, inclusion, and participation. In Ireland, some of these products may be referred to as aids and appliances.
We have planned online consultations to hear from you. There are two date and time options available, in the hopes you will be able to find one which suits your schedule. Each is one hour, and will involve a 5 minute introduction to the evaluation process, followed by a guided discussion and open forum.
The dates and times are as follows: Thursday, 5 December 7pm Monday, 9 December 12pm (noon)
To register, please complete the form at the following link: https://forms.office.com/e/3adW7kyp39
Once you have registered, we will forward the meeting link and additional information to your email address directly.

Empowering Communities Programme - Ballinasloe Region
|
The new Empowering Communities Programme aims to empower local communities to craft their own responses to area based poverty, social exclusion and the resulting consequences. This programme will initially be targeted in the Ballinasloe region.
The aim is to enhance the Citizens’ voices in Ballinasloe and allow others to have their voice heard for the first time. We hope to identify areas of overlap and gaps in services that we can then try to close collectively. This will be a people-focused, capacity building and collaborative effort.
Having the voice of the community both empowered and engaged will help to ensure this initiative has a sustainable future. There is a significant body of work to be done in developing and facilitating relationships between the local community and other relevant stakeholders.
