Galway The Cathaoirleach’s Awards 2025 are an annual initiative to acknowledge the commitment of individuals and groups who participate in community and voluntary activities in County Galway and to recognise the significant impact their actions have on quality of life in their communities. The Awards are a joint venture between Galway County Council and the Public Participation Network, which has over 1,300 Member Groups carrying out a range of community and voluntary activities across the County. There are ten awards categories, and the winners of each Award Category will be announced by the Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Martina Kinane, at an event on the 16th of May in the Raheen Woods Hotel Athenry. Public Consultation - Policing Priorities For An Garda Síochána

The closing date is Sunday 8th June 2025 The Policing and Community Safety Authority (PCSA) is the new oversight body for An Garda Síochána. The PCSA sets the Policing Priorities and these establish what we want the Gardaí to give the most attention and resources to, in order to deliver an effective policing service for you and to make people feel safe in their communities. The PCSA is currently reaching out to people and communities across Ireland to hear their views on what the Policing Priorities should be for An Garda Síochána for 2026-2028. We want you to have your say by completing the Public Consultation and letting us know what areas of policing and community safety are most important to you. It will take about 10 minutes to complete, and there is a short, optional survey at the end. Anyone over the age of 16 years old can have their say. Ballinasloe begins on Friday 9th May 2025 for 6 Fridays, from 10.30am to 1.00pm. Tuam begins on Monday 15th June 2025 for 6 Mondays from 10.30am to 1.00pm. The Living Well Programme is a chronic disease self-management programme, originally developed at Standford University. The programme is suitable for anyone aged over 18 who is living with any kind of long-term health condition e.g. high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, depression, chronic pain, etc. As participants must have the capacity to self-manage, the programme is not suitable for people with severe cognitive impairment or intellectual disability. Annual Sand Dune Gathering

Saturday 17th May 2025, 10am to 4pm, University of Galway This event brings together people interested in the future of Ireland’s beaches and dunes. At the event you will learn about, and contribute your views on, best practices in dune management, planning and restoration. Gathering Outcomes: - Help in designing local actions to implement for 2025s, by working through a series of dune management issues in “bite-sized best-practice” session. - Networking: an opportunity to meet other dune managers, volunteers, NGOs or policy makers. There will be an exhibition space (so bring along anything you would like to share in this space) - Resources: you need it, we have it! And if not, we can work together to find or develop it!
