HER Outdoors Week looks to celebrate all the outdoors has to offer. Galway Sports Partnership is encouraging the women and girls of Ireland to #EmbraceYourSpace and #FindYourOutdoors!
Activities include swimming, water sports, Yoga, Cycling, Orienteering, Trek & Dip and much more around Galway County

ATTENDING EVENTS?
Each year Heritage Week kicks off on the third weekend of August and runs until the end of the following weekend. Many national and hundreds of local community organisations participate by organising events throughout the country. Many of the events that take place during the week are free and the programme highlights the abundance of great work that is carried out in all communities in Ireland to preserve and promote our natural, built and cultural heritage.

Draft Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) Scheme 2024 - 2029

Submission deadline: Friday 23rd August 2024 at 4pm
|
The role of the SPC’S, as committees of the Council, is to consider and advise the Corporate Policy Group and the full Council on matters connected with the formulation, development, monitoring, and review of policy which relate to the functions of the Council, and which are linked to the Corporate Plan. SPCs bring together both elected members and people actively working with social, community/voluntary, economic, and environmental bodies to assist in the work of the committees.

The draft scheme specifies assignment of sector(s) to each SPC and the number of representatives from each sector for each SPC. Submissions marked Draft Strategic Policy Scheme 2024-2029 and/or observations from interested parties in relation to the scheme should be submitted to the undersigned not later than 4.00pm on Friday, 23rd August 2024. European Commission targeted consultation on procedure for access
to justice in environmental matters in relation to State aid decisions.

Deadline for submissions Friday 6 September 2024

The European Commission has launched a targeted consultation to seek feedback from the business community and public authorities on a proposed new procedure aimed to give public access to judicial procedures to challenge specific decisions on State aid measures that allegedly contravene EU environmental law.

Funding For European Projects For Adult Education
and Community Development

Adult Education Erasmus+ Info Session (Online): Thursday 22nd August 2024 Register HERE. Deadline for funding applications through Erasmus+: Tuesday 1st October 2024.

The Adult Education team at Léargas is here to support any organisation that is new to European projects. Our Adult Education funding supports non-formal and informal learning for adults, which covers lots of social inclusion and community development work happening in your communities. This funding can support: - Training and job shadowing opportunities for staff and volunteers in European countries. - International learning experiences for participants in adult learning and community programmes.
- Collaboration between organisations in European countries for exchange of practice and shared resource development.

This funding is made available under the National Development Plan, Project Ireland 2040. Investing in our Culture, Language & Heritage 2018 -2027 sets out the Government’s objectives for capital investment in Ireland’s culture, language and heritage.

Artist Workspaces Capital Scheme

The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media is now inviting applications from Local Authorities under a new pilot scheme with an allocated fund of €6m to increase the provision of artists’ workspaces across Ireland.

Grant For Burial Ground Maintenance Works 2024

Deadline for application: Friday 16th August 2024.
|
The Council encourages local communities to undertake the maintenance of their Burial Grounds and financial assistance is available for the work involved. Application Forms and Conditions for the above Grant are available on our website at www.galway.ie, or may be obtained from the Environment Section, Galway County Council, Áras an Chontae, Prospect Hill, Galway - Tel. (091) 509510. The closing date for receipt of completed Application Forms is Friday, 16th August, 2024. Applications received after this date will not be accepted.

Local Creative Youth Grant

Submissions by the end of December 2024
|
Galway and Roscommon Local Creative Youth Partnership (LCYP), administered by Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) has grant funding available in 2024 under a Creative Youth Grant Scheme. The scheme supports the development of child and youth creativity in Galway and Roscommon. Maximum Grant Available €3000. Grants awarded must be fully spent in by December 2024 Applications should only be submitted for the funding of projects which can be fully completed, vouched for and accounted for by end of December 2024.

Community Energy Development (Certificate, L6, 20 ECTS)
|
TUS are currently rolling out another Community Energy Development (Certificate, L6, 20 ECTS) - Starting in September, this certificate is now 80% funded.
This programme is aimed at people from (urban/rural) communities interested in the development of sustainable energy projects and those who are involved in supporting communities to develop sustainable energy projects.
The aim of the programme is to develop the knowledge and skills of learners to be able to identify and develop appropriate sustainable energy investment opportunities in their communities, by developing their knowledge of sustainable energy technologies/solutions, relevant funding opportunities and project development techniques.

LEVEL 1: online child protection in sport, basic awareness course (3 hours).
Suitable for everyone involved in children's sport.
LEVEL 2: online course for Club Children's Officers. (3 hours).
Participants must have completed Safeguarding 1 before attending.
LEVEL 3: online course for Designated Liaison Person's .
Participants must have completed Safeguarding 1 before attending.
Different dates available. Cost is €20.00 per workshop.

We are looking for people in County Galway to take part in a survey of hedgehogs in gardens and parks this summer. Please fill in the survey questionnaires below and tell us about your garden and whether you have hedgehogs visiting or not. The surveys will take place in July and August 2024.
