Cathaoirleach’s Awards 2025
|
Closing date: Friday 18th April 2025 Applications are now open for the Cathaoirleach’s Awards 2025 which are an annual initiative to acknowledge the commitment of individuals and groups who participate in community and voluntary activities in County Galway and to recognise the significant impact their actions have on quality of life in their communities. The Awards are a joint venture between Galway County Council and the Public Participation Network, which has over 1,300 Member Groups carrying out a range of community and voluntary activities across the County. Nominations can be made by Individual members of the public or through community groups and voluntary organisations, by e-mailing a completed Nomination Form to awards@galwaycoco.ie The winners of each Award Category will be announced by the Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Martina Kinane, at an event in May 2025. Each Winner will receive a specially commissioned hand-crafted Award and Certificate with a cash prize of €500 towards their work. Kelley is the Community Officer at St. Patrick's Cathedral, and has served on the LCDC since 2019. This evening she will share her knowledge and experience from her time on the committee. There will be lots of time for questions and discussion at this event, so it is perfect for anyone who is thinking of taking a role on the Local Community Development Committee, or who is a newly appointed PPN Representative. This is also a space for anyone who has been serving on the LCDC and would like to ask about any challenges they might be facing in their own county. Together we can discuss and help each other in our roles as PPN Reps! Please register to attend above. Social Economy Enterprise Development Programme

Free Global Water Dance Workshops

Whether you’re an experienced dancer or just love to move, these workshops are a fun and creative way to connect with your body and the theme of water. Workshop upcoming dates: 2nd April 2025: 5:00-6:00pm at Town Hall, Clifden 29th April 2025: 12:00-1:00/1:30pm at Terryland, Galway(Special guest: Laney Mannion-Visual Artist) The workshops will lead to a relaxed final performance at Interface on June 14th, as part of the Global Water Dances event. This international initiative uses dance to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation. Workshops are free, but booking is recommended.
