HER Outdoors is BACK from 12-18th August 2024 and Galway Sports Partnership have an exciting lineup of events happening across Galway City and County.

HER Outdoors Week looks to celebrate all the outdoors has to offer. Galway Sports Partnership is encouraging the women and girls of Ireland to #EmbraceYourSpace and #FindYourOutdoors!

Activities include swimming, water sports, Yoga, Cycling, Orienteering, Trek & Dip and much more around Galway County

National Heritage Week 17th – 25th August 2024

Heritage week is fast approaching us and is a great opportunity to showcase local heritage in Co. Galway. The Heritage Week Portal is now open, so please register your event as early as possible at: - https://www.heritageweek.ie

ATTENDING EVENTS?

Each year Heritage Week kicks off on the third weekend of August and runs until the end of the following weekend. Many national and hundreds of local community organisations participate by organising events throughout the country. Many of the events that take place during the week are free and the programme highlights the abundance of great work that is carried out in all communities in Ireland to preserve and promote our natural, built and cultural heritage.

CONSULTATIONS

Survey deadline is at midnight on Wednesday 31st July 2024.

Fáilte Ireland is committed to ensuring their tourist destinations, products and services are accessible to all people, regardless of age, size, ability, or disability.

O’Herlihy Access Consultancy (OHAC), in partnership with Fáilte Ireland, have been engaged to facilitate a consultation process to understand the experiences, challenges, and needs of people with disabilities and older people. As part of this consultation, OHAC will be conducting a national survey in addition to the facilitation of online and in person consultation sessions. 

Survey deadline is at midnight on Wednesday 31st July 2024.

Peatlands Climate Action Scheme - Attymon Co. Galway

Submissions before Thursday 1st August 2024.

The Department of Environment, Climate and Communications approved grant funding of €108 million in 2020 for the scheme ‘Peatlands Climate Action Scheme (PCAS)’. Under this scheme, enhanced rehabilitation has commenced on fifty-six bogs since 2021 and it is proposed that rehabilitation will commence on an additional thirteen bogs in 2024. A rehabilitation plan must be prepared and part of the process includes consultation with stakeholders and affected parties.

To facilitate this consultation process, a Draft Rehabilitation Plan and associated Map Book for Attymon Bog is now available on the Peatlands Climate Action Scheme website at the following location: https://www.bnmpcas.ie/2024-bogs/

Bord na Mona invite you to make a submission or to comment on the Attymon Bog Draft Rehabilitation Plan. Please make any such submissions to the email address (pcasinfo@bnm.ie <mailto:pcasinfo@bnm.ie> ) before 1st August 2024.

FUNDING

CULTURAL CAPITAL SCHEME

There is no closing date - This scheme will remain open until the fund is exhausted.

This funding is made available under the National Development Plan, Project Ireland 2040. Investing in our Culture, Language & Heritage 2018 -2027 sets out the Government’s objectives for capital 
investment in Ireland’s culture, language and heritage.

Applications are now invited for funding under this Stream.

There is no closing date - This scheme will remain open until the fund is exhausted.

ARTIST WORKSPACES CAPITAL SCHEME

There is no closing date - This scheme will remain open until the fund is exhausted.

The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media is now inviting applications from Local Authorities under a new pilot scheme with an allocated fund of €6m to increase the provision of 
artists’ workspaces across Ireland.

Your completed application form should be emailed to artscapitalunit@tcagsm.gov.ie with “Artist 
Workspaces Scheme” inserted in the email subject line. More info HERE

IRELAND AGAINST RACISM FUND 2024

Deadline for application: Wednesday 7th of August 2024 at 12.00

The Ireland Against Racism funding call is an important element in supporting the implementation of the National Action Plan Against Racism.

All applications must be submitted electronically. More info can be found HERE.

 

GRANT FOR BURIAL GROUND MAINTENANCE WORKS 2024  

Deadline for application: Friday 16th August 2024.

The Council encourages local communities to undertake the maintenance of their Burial 
Grounds and financial assistance is available for the work involved. 
Application Forms and Conditions for the above Grant are available on our website at www.galway.ie, or may be obtained from the Environment Section, Galway County Council, Áras an Chontae, Prospect Hill, Galway - Tel. (091) 509510.
The closing date for receipt of completed Application Forms is Friday, 16th August, 
2024. Applications received after this date will not be accepted.

Galway Sports Partnership's Online Safeguarding (child protection) 

LEVEL 1: online child protection in sport, basic awareness course (3 hours).

Suitable for everyone involved in children's sport.

LEVEL 2: online course for Club Children's Officers. (3 hours).

Participants must have completed Safeguarding 1 before attending. 

LEVEL 3: online course for Designated Liaison Person's .

Participants must have completed Safeguarding 1 before attending.

Different dates available. Cost is €20.00 per workshop.

Hedgehogs in the Garden  - Galway 2024

We are looking for people in  County Galway to take part in a survey of hedgehogs in gardens and parks this summer.  Please fill in the survey questionnaires below and tell us about your garden and whether you have hedgehogs visiting or not. The surveys will take place in July and August.
