|
S3 Solutions is an independent consultancy company who have been commissioned by the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) to carry out a piece of research to explore any barriers to involvement in Public Participation Networks (PPN).
There will be an initial initial exploratory survey, which you can access at the link below: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PPNQuestionnaire.
The survey will take you approximately 20 minutes to complete and the final report will be shared with stakeholders. PPN members are encouraged to complete the survey, to help gather as much information and feedback as possible to inform the consultation phase of the research. The survey will be live until 19th September.

GRANT FOR BURIAL GROUND MAINTENANCE WORKS 2024
|
Deadline for application: Friday 16th August 2024.
|
The Council encourages local communities to undertake the maintenance of their Burial Grounds and financial assistance is available for the work involved. Application Forms and Conditions for the above Grant are available on our website at www.galway.ie, or may be obtained from the Environment Section, Galway County Council, Áras an Chontae, Prospect Hill, Galway - Tel. (091) 509510. The closing date for receipt of completed Application Forms is Friday, 16th August 2024.

COMMUNITY CENTRE INVESMENT FUND (CCIF) 2024
|
Deadline for application: Thursday 29th of August 2024.
|
Designed to support the development and refurbishment of community centres across Ireland.
Supporting essential maintenance, retrofitting, and other necessary improvements, with grants of between €10,000 - €100,000 towards capital costs to develop and enhance their existing community facilities.
Eligibility and Funding Scope
Existing community centres can apply for funding to cover a range of projects, including compliance with fire safety and building regulations, energy efficiency upgrades, and essential maintenance works.
Application Process
The application process involves two stages: initial registration and formal application submission. Application window opens on 29th of July 2024, with applications due by 29th of August 2024. Applicants can register online HERE ahead of the application open date of the 29th of July.
Support for Applicants
The Department is hosting online information sessions to assist applicants. The first session is scheduled for 25th of June 2024. Additionally, tutorials and support resources are available to guide applicants through the registration and application process.

NEW SOLUTIONS FUNDING TO SUPPORT SOCIAL INNOVATION
|
Deadline to submit applications is 5pm on Friday 30 August 2024
|
Minister Joe O’Brien recently announced the ESF+ New Solutions Funding to support social innovation across the country.
The overall objective of New Solutions is to enhance the social innovation ecosystem in Ireland and is co-funded through the European Social Fund+ 2021-2027 (ESF+), a European initiative aimed at reducing the risk of poverty and social exclusion, with an emphasis on disadvantaged groups.
I would like to bring to your attention that the first call for applications under the New Solutions Social Innovation Fund is now open. It provides up to €2.8 million to establish a Social Innovation Hub over the lifetime of the Programme.

DAF Growing Social Enterprise Capital Fund
|
Deadline to submit applications is 5pm on Friday 20 September 2024
|
The fund will provide capital supports to assist enterprises to achieve their social, environmental and economic objectives, and to improve their sustainability and impact. This fund will support a wide regional spread of organisations, including those embedded in rural communities.
|
The call will be divided into two Strands: Strand A: Small grants of between €1,500 – 15,000 Strand B: Larger grants from €15,001 to €100,000
|

An Application Clinic will take place on Thursday, 12 September from 11am – 1pm. This webinar will provide further information and supports to social enterprises applying for either Strand A or Strand B. Click HERE to register for this event. Information on Springboard Courses
|
www.springboardcourses.ie providing 11,000 free or heavily subsidised college courses for unemployed, self-employed or returners to work. Courses are free for the unemployed, previously self-employed and returners to the workforce. For others, 90 per cent of the course fee is funded by the Government, with participants required to contribute just 10 per cent of the fee. Helpline – 1800 303 523

PPN Stakeholders Training
|
The online only self-paced training videos programme for PPN stakeholders has been developed with SJI. Registrations for the online only training is now open. Social Justice Ireland is providing this training on behalf of the Department of Rural and Community Development.
Social Justice Ireland will provide some support via the webform on each Module page. There are no scheduled classes as part of this training.

Mental Health Peer - Support

This training is offered free to all community volunteers in a drive to bring Peer-Support to the heart of communities as a critical part of mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

As part of St Stephen’s Green Trust’s (SSGT) strategic goal to contribute to a more humane asylum system in Ireland and it's decade-long commitment to supporting people in the international protection (IP) system, the Trust is making funding available in 2024 for organisations with a track-record of advocacy work in relation to migrant issues.

Galway County Public Participation Network has been established to enable people and community groups in County Galway to have a say on issues that concern them.
It is an official platform for representation on policy making boards and committees of local authority and other bodies, and it works to develop the Environmental, Social Inclusion, and Community & Voluntary pillars of the PPN. Researchers from the University of Galway are looking for residents in County Galway to fill out a short online survey to tell us about your garden and whether or not you have seen any hedgehogs. Please follow this link or scan the QR code to complete the questionnaire – it will only take five minutes and you don’t have to know if there are hedgehogs in your garden to take part!

GALWAY COUNTY AGE FRIENDLY PROGRAMME 2024
|
Age Friendly Ireland is the organisation responsible for the national Age Friendly Programme, affiliated to the World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities.
|
Age Friendly Galway County is delivered by Galway County Council and works to improve the services and facilities that our older people have identified as being important to them, and the wider community, as they live healthy and active lives.
|

The Ombudsman examines complaints from members of the public who believe they have been unfairly treated by certain public service providers. The organisation also investigates complaints about failures by public bodies to provide accessible buildings, services and information, as required under Part 3 of the Disability Act 2005.
The Ombudsman provides a free public service that is open and accountable. We examine complaints in a fair, independent, and impartial way.
