National Spring Clean 2026
|

The National Spring Clean is now open for registration! National Spring Clean is one of Ireland’s most popular, well recognized and successful anti-litter initiatives. The objectives of National Spring Clean are: • Encourage clean-ups throughout the whole month of April • Galvanise the practices of recycling and re-use where possible • Increase the number of events and participants • Promote personal responsibility for litter • Heighten awareness of litter and waste issues More than 5250 events across Ireland last year removed 2,700 tons of litter from roadsides, parks and coastlines. Householders, schools, businesses and communities across County Galway are encouraged to register and take part in the annual National Spring Clean campaign every April. National Spring Clean is operated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce in partnership with Local Authorities and supported by the Department of Climate, Environment and Energy and Mars Wrigley. New Solutions Pilot Grants

Closing date: Friday 13th March 2026 at 6pm The Western Development Commission is delighted to join consortium partners in launching the , a new funding programme supporting social innovation to address social inclusion challenges across Ireland. Co-funded by the European Union and the Irish Government, this two-year programme will provide € in funding to at least 40 projects, with individual grants ranging from €70,000 to €100,000. Successful applicants will also benefit from access to the New Solutions Social Innovation Hub’s networks, expertise, and learning supports. Educational Bursary Award 2026
|
Closing date: Friday 3rd April 2026 The Organic Trust has announced the launch of its 2026 Educational Bursary Award. Supported by the National Organic Training Skillnet (NOTS) and delivered by South East Technological University (SETU), the bursary is aimed at supporting organic education and investing directly in the future of Ireland’s organic sector. The bursary programme is open exclusively to the Organic Trusts’ 2,450 members and their immediate family members. In 2026, two bursaries will be awarded, each covering the full course fees for a successful applicant undertaking an organic agricultural or horticultural programme at SETU Waterford, commencing in autumn 2026. One bursary will support a student pursuing an MSc in Organic and Biological Agriculture, whilst the second will support an MSc in Organic and Biological Horticulture. Childminding Development Grants 2026

Closing date: Wednesday 15th April 2026 The Childminding Development Grant provides up to €1,000 to assist childminders, who are providing a childminding service in their own homes. The Grant scheme is open to all childminders, including registered childminders, those that are yet to register, and those who are planning to open a childminding business during 2026. The Grant aims to support childminders to enhance quality and safety in their service through the purchase of toys, childcare equipment, safety equipment, equipment to support inclusion and STEM and the Arts education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) as well as IT equipment to assist childminders to engage with training and registration processes. Creative Climate Action Fund III
|
Closing date: Wednesday 15th April 2026 Creative Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of a new €6.5 million Creative Climate Action Fund. It will support imaginative, large-scale, creative, cultural and artistic initiatives that support communities around climate change and empower people to make meaningful behavioral change. The Creative Climate Action Fund III (2026-2029) is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme in partnership with the Shared Island Initiative and the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications. The fund will support ambitious, durational projects that bring together expertise from the creative sectors, climate science, and community engagement. We are seeking proposals that respond creatively to Ireland’s key national climate priorities, including those set out in the Climate Action Plan 2025, the National Dialogue on Climate Action, and the work of the Just Transition Commission. Funding between €400,000 and €750,000 is available for large-scale, public engagement projects, running from 2026 to 2029. Architectural Heritage Fund STITCH IN TIME GRANT
|
Galway County Council is operating a grant scheme: Architectural Heritage Fund STITCH IN TIME GRANT which is a grant for Minor Repairs & Conservation Advice Reports to assist owners towards the cost of minor repairs or maintenance works to Protected Structures, proposed Protected Structures or historic buildings within Architectural Conservation Areas that enhance the place or street. Other historic buildings may be considered but priority will be given to those with statutory protection. To ensure that owners are appropriately advised on the works required to their property the scheme can also be availed of to produce building condition reports/surveys, method statements or specifications by conservation professionals to identify and prioritise works that adhere to best conservation practice. ♦ If you are in receipt of a social welfare payment, you may apply through Intreo for funding of up to €1,000, paid on completion of the course.
♦ Teachers can apply for the Teacher Refund Scheme, which refunds up to 40% of the course fee.

Next dates coming up: Thursday 26th March, Wednesday 29th April, Wednesday 27th May 2026 Online from 1pm to 5pm LGBT Ireland has just confirmed the first new dates for 2026 for the LGBT Champions Programme. LGBT Ireland’s Online LGBT Champions Training Programme supports health and social care professionals to provide safer, more inclusive care for LGBTQI+ older people. Older LGBTQI+ people are more likely to live alone, experience isolation, and fear discrimination in care settings. Many worry about being forced “back into the closet” when seeking support. The Champions Programme offers practical, evidence-informed training and resources to help services respond with dignity, confidence, and respect. ‘Jumpstart’ is a new digital learning initiative developed by GRETB to support young people aged 15 to 25 who are currently not engaged in education or training. Jumpstart is delivered through a dedicated mobile application; registered participants can access learning at a time to suit their circumstances. Nurses for Night Care enables people with diseases like dementia, motor neurone disease, advanced respiratory disease, heart failure and end stage kidney disease to receive expert nursing care and support at night in their own homes in their final days.
